With over 21 years of experience in the healthcare field, I have always had a heart for helping others, especially the elderly and those living with mental illness. My passion lies in giving a voice to those who may feel unheard and ensuring that every person is treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of building strong relationships with residents and their families, making sure their emotional and personal needs are supported. I believe in promoting individuality and honoring each person’s unique story and journey. Supporting my resident’s autonomy is at the core of what I do, and I strive to create an environment where they feel valued, seen, and empowered.
To me, making a difference doesn’t always require grand gestures, sometimes it’s as simple as one smile, one thought, or one shared vision bringing light into someone’s day and supporting their journey. I believe kindness and understanding changes lives, one person at a time.

My name is Flora Jones. I am the Director of Nursing services at Far Rockaway Center since 4/25/2022. Our motto at Far Rockaway Center is “our resident’s come first “. I have a Master’s degree in Nursing. My objective is to show up for work, work hard when I’m there and strive to be better than yesterday. My professional achievements; I started the NP program at the University of Phoenix and completed two years, but had to postpone during COVID. Since then, I made several changes in my career/personal life. One decision I made was moving back to New York from Jacksonville, FL to spend some time with my grandmother who became ill when my mother passed away in 2021. I am considering returning to finish the NP program. My hobbies personal and interest; I enjoy the outdoors/riding my bike and traveling. My daughter and her family reside in Houston, Texas, but I have family in FL, Virgina, South Carolina and Philadelphia. My skills and areas of expertise- I have learned a lot in my tenure as a DON. I have met a number of people who have influenced and shaped my career in so many ways. The entire team at Far Rock away Center just to name a few. I enjoy mentoring nurses who want to become future DON’s and C.N.A.s who want to become nurses. My strengths are my greatest skills i.e., attention to detail/self-motivator/work to resolve problems. I am able to adjust to changing circumstances and new situations as they arise.
